Not worthy of a potato pic, it’s 2017 base Jetta with the 1.4.
This thing is just garbage. It’s so bad, the service advisor apologized before giving it to me. Anybody who bought one of these new over a Golf is wrong, everything quality about the Golf is not found here. The only redeeming quality is the engine, and that’s because unlike the 1.5 Fusion, the engine is adequate.

But it has german engineering! How could it be bad?

This gen was all MexiAmerican.

Wouldn’t the equivalent Golf be the same?

So you guessed correctly!

Nope, different platform. Also, this gen was completely designed here.

Yes, I wish I was wrong. It’s truly awful. It’s also filthy inside, which makes it worse. I don’t get how you can stain the seats so badly in 20k miles. My 200k(?) mile 4Runner seats look significantly cleaner, and I haven’t really cleaned them ever.

About as much German engineering as a Routan...

Bring it to the mountains and let’s see how bad the handling is!

It’s not bad, the tires suck, but it’s not bad. They got rid o f the beam in 2016. My car should be done tomorrow though, but I’m sick again.

I forgot it got the beam for a short while...what a piece of junk. Dangit, get well soon!

I actually think these are one of the better cars in their class with the 2016i sh updates and 1.4T. Let me put it this way - if you think the Jetta is bad pray you never have to spend any time in a Sentra because it is far worse inevery way.

Just the interior is worse than my Fiesta. It has two options on the headlight switch, on and off. No parking lights.

My brother has one with a stick. He likes it. Turbo spools at like 1500. Chirps in 2 if you beat it.

The lights are a US market VW thing. Basically none of the VW’s here had a parking light option for years until recently . Supposedly it was one of several cost-cutting moves to keep MSRP’s in line with domestic competitors. I think parking lights started coming back with the Mk7 Golf/GTI (I assume you pointed this out because it your GTI does have them). I know the Mk6 GTI didn’t have parking lights in the US - apparently it’s just the switch and people import the switches from Euro cars and install them to get parking lights. I thought the materials in the Jetta were better than in the Fiesta/Focus - but I’ll agree that Ford gives a lot more features on lower trims than the Jetta.

The Fiesta somehow had more soft touch materials.
